Dr. Diane Mickley
Founder and Director of the Wilkins Center
Diane
Mickley, MD, FACP, FAED is the Founder and Director of the Wilkins Center.
Dr. Mickley is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and specializes in
treating people with eating disorders and weight control issues. She has
dedicated her life to understanding and treating eating disorders and has
provided care for over 5,000 people with such problems over the past 25
years.
Dr. Mickley graduated magna cum laude from Vassar College and received
her Medical Degree from Tufts University School of Medicine. She founded
the Wilkins Center in 1982.
Dr. Mickley is a Research Associate in the Department of Psychiatry at
the Yale University School of Medicine. She is an Attending Physician on
the medical staff of Greenwich Hospital. She regularly collaborates on
research projects with Columbia, Yale, and Harvard Universities. Dr.
Mickley is a frequent contributor to medical books and journals. She writes
and lectures extensively on the assessment and treatment of eating
disorders. Dr. Mickley is on the Editorial Boards of Eating Disorders: The
Journal of Treatment and Prevention and Eating Disorders Today.
Dr. Mickley is a Founder and Board Member of the Academy for Eating
Disorders, an international organization for professionals. She is the Past
President of the American Anorexia and Bulimia Association and the Former
Co-President of the National Eating Disorders Association. She is a Fellow
of the American College of Physicians. Dr. Mickley is a member of the North
American Association of Obesity and the Society for Adolescent Medicine.
Dr. Mickley has been honored with several awards for her outstanding
leadership, professional, and community contributions. She received the
"Woman of Inspiration Award" from the American Anorexia and Bulimia
Association for advancing the treatment of eating disorders through clinical
research, hands-on treatment, and organizational leadership that encouraged
community outreach and continuing professional education. She was the
recipient of the National Eating Disorders Association’s Lifetime
Achievement Award. Additionally, Dr. Mickley was honored with the Greenwich
YWCA’s BRAVA Award.
