Dr. Samanich: Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
The Wilkin’s Center is proud to offer Child and Adolescent Psychiatry services from John G. Samanich, MD, the Director of Adolescent Psychiatry at the Wilkins Center. Dr. Samanich provides psychiatric care across the age continuum, starting at birth to about age 25. Dr. Samanich practices play therapy, medication management, and individual psychotherapy, a rare trait for a child psychiatrist. His special interest is helping teenagers with anxiety, depression, and adjustment disorders. In addition to treating those with eating disorders, Dr. Samanich is experienced with addressing substance abuse and behavioral challenges in children.
Dr. Samanich’s interest in the psychiatric needs of children and adolescents transcends to his dedication for educating others. Dr. Samanich is a consultant for the Weekly Reader, a subsidiary of Reader’s Digest Publishing, for a series of books about child and adolescent psychiatric issues. He is a guest columnist for the Greenwich Times. Additionally, his work is featured in Parents Together, a newsletter for Greenwich parents.
