Art Therapy at the Wilkins Center
Art Therapy has proven to be successful for people of all ages. It can be especially helpful in the treatment of eating disorders and self-esteem issues. No artistic talent is required, and it is not an art class. Through the use of various artistic media, art therapy is used as a vehicle to build self-esteem; enhance coping and communication skills; reduce stress; manage anger, anxiety, depression, trauma, loss, and grief; work out or resolve conflicts; and improve body image. Best used as an adjunct to other forms of therapy, Art Therapy is just one more powerful tool that is available to clients of the Wilkins Center.
