Anxiety Disorders
Anxiety disorders are the most common type of emotional disorder. Anxiety is different from occasional nervousness. Anxiety is an unpleasant feeling of fear, panic, or tension and may be accompanied by physical symptoms including, stomach aches, shortness of breath, heart palpitations, or startling easily. People with anxiety disorders may avoid situations that trigger uncomfortable feelings, interfering with daily life.
There are many types of anxiety disorders, including generalized anxiety disorder, phobias, and panic disorder. Depression and substance abuse may co-exist with anxiety disorders. Most cases of anxiety disorder respond well to psychotherapy, medications, or both. The staff at the Wilkins Center is well-qualified to help you heal and regain your quality of life.
